Airport Transportation

Alex's brother Steve has kindly put together some information about getting to the hotels from the airport and around town. See below for details, as well as his information if you would be interested in trying to share rides from the airport.

Ground Transportation Around Dallas
The most convenient option for transportation is to rent a car. There are also courtesy vans at each of the two hotels that are on a first come, first service basis. The Belmont has a van that is available from 8am to 8pm and operates within a 3 mile radius of the hotel. The Adolphus hotel has a van that operates between the hours of 7-10am, 11am-2pm, and 4-7pm. The two hotels are within 3 miles of each other. There are also numerous taxi companies in the Dallas area that service the hotel. The preferred taxi company recommended by the Belmont is Cowboy Cab, which is operated by Judy Barwick, 214-779-8405. The Adolphus hotel recommends using Yellow Cab, 214-426-6262. Public Transit information can be found at www.dart.org

DFW to Hotels
The options available to get from the airport to the hotel, other than renting a car, are to either take a shuttle, taxi, or public transit. If you choose to take a shuttle, Super Shuttle has the cheapest rate at $24 a person, 817-329-2000 or www.supershuttle.com Taxi service to the Belmont can be provided by Judy Barwick (Cowboy Cab), 214-779-8405, at a cost of ~$40 per trip. She can accommodate about 5-6 people depending on the amount of luggage. She also is reachable by email at judithbarwick@yahoo.com if you would like to set up pick-ups in advance . The cheapest option to get from DFW to the hotel is to take public transit. To catch the free shuttle from the airport to the TRE express rail, find your way to the “Remote south lot” via the airport terminal shuttle. Board the DART bus route “Trinity”. This will take you to the TRE stop. From there you will have to purchase an eastbound ticket for $2.50. Take the TRE to Union Station. Once at Union Station, you can call the hotel’s courtesy van to pick you up or take a short cab ride.

Dallas Love Field to Belmont
If you choose to take Public Transit from Love to the Belmont, you will have to purchase a DART ticket for $2.50 and board route 39, “Downtown Dallas”. This will take you to the East Transfer center, where you will have to transfer to route 50, “Cockrell Hill”. This will take you to the hotel. You will want to exit at the “Ft.Worth @ Malone” stop. Judy Barwick, Cowboy Cab, also offers taxi service from Love to the Belmont. Her rate is $20 per trip. See contact information above. If you decided to take the Super Shuttle, it will cost $17 per person, contact information also listed above.

Ride Sharing
Since I have spent the time looking up all the ground transportation options, I am very familiar with the choices and other potential cheaper deals for groups. Therefore, I am volunteering my time to be a trip coordinator. If you want to share rides into town, send me your arrival airport, day, time, and some sort of contact info (ideally cell #). I will set up groups to travel together, by cab or shuttle, to reduce the costs to each person. Please email your information to Haynes.stephen.m@gmail.com or call me at (248) 259-1993. I am looking forward to meeting everyone next week!

Transportation

Dallas is easily accessible by air to two airports, Dallas-Fort Worth International (DFW) and Dallas Love Field (DAL). All major carriers serve one or both of these.

On arrival, you may find it convenient to rent a car. In fact, we would recommend it. While Dallas does have many pedestrian areas, these are not concentrated together and a car will enable you to enjoy the many diversions on hand. There are hybrid vehicles available from all of the major rental agencies located at the airports.

Accomodation

We have arranged reduced rates at two historic hotels in Dallas:

For Family: The Adolphus (for reservations call 800.221.9083)

For Friends: The Belmont (for reservations call 214.393.2300)

There are links to these on the sidebar to the right. Please mention that you are with the wedding when you book a room.
